This Spring, our Book Talk series continues with an inspiring book about the heroic women of the Easter Rising by Michael Hogan. On Easter Monday in 1916, Irish nationalists broke from England by establishing the Irish Republic. 1,600 strong, they rebelled against British rule in Ireland. The clash lasted a week before it was suppressed leaving 2,000 people dead or injured, and the leaders executed. It took 5 years for public opinion to shift enough that the rebels became hailed as martyrs. A treaty was signed in 1922 establishing the Irish Free State, which is today’s Republic of Ireland. Hear the little-known stories of the Women of the Easter Rising.
The Book Talk will have a live Q&A session with the author and can be watched on-demand after May 15th.
