Why Did You Get Involved in the MIHC?
I was introduced to the Maine Irish Heritage Center by my husband, who was a member when I moved to Portland in 2010. Since then, I have attended many wonderful community events hosted at the historic home of the MIHC. As a first-generation American, I am excited to be part of an organization that will help me teach my daughter about her Irish roots and to share with others the important traditions, art, and folklore of my home country.
Experience
I have worked at One Longfellow Square, a local non-profit performing arts and concert venue, since moving to Portland as the organization’s bookkeeper and business manager.
Irish Roots
I was born in Cork City. I moved to the United States in my twenties and lived in San Francisco for ten years before moving to Portland, Maine. I have one sister living in New York and a sister and brother living in San Francisco. My parents and two other brothers still live in Cork.
Interests & Hobbies
feel very fortunate to live in Maine, as it has all the things I love in abundance. Lots of outdoor activities, delicious food, tasty beer, and so much live music! I have a 9-year-old daughter who teaches me new things every day, and we recently adopted a wonderful dog who also keeps us on our toes! I love to cook and enjoy reading.
