Are you Interested in attending a Ford Film Festival 8/18-21? We are in the planning stages of a summer film festival celebrating Francis and John Ford, two sons of Irish immigrants who rose to the top in Hollywood as pioneers in the early film industry. Together, they have an unmatched 6 Oscars, 327 Directing credits, 56 Producer credits, 520 Acting credits, and 55 writing credits. Their journey started in Portland, at St. Dom’s, now the Maine Irish Heritage Center, where they served as altar boys. This festival will celebrate their success and impact on the film as well as the city that formed their views and vision, and we mark the 50th and 70th anniversaries, respectively of John and Francis Ford’s passing.
The festival will take place over 3 days and include film screenings, panel discussions for Ford scholars, and special guests, and a picnic on Peaks Island. With time still to plan, we want to make sure this festival is appealing to all. Please help us learn more by indicating your preferences below. Thank you!
Supporting the Ford Festival What we have in mind is ambitious, but the result will be a city-wide buzz and renewed for these two brothers. As a non-profit, we look to our community for support and sponsors for events like these. Please let us know how you can help.
Thoughts? Please tell us your ideas on what would make the Ford Festival great; things to watch out for, etc
